In this video i d like to show you how to drill easy in ceramic tiles using proper tile drill bit.

I used high speed steel drill bit for piloting through the tile glaze and then used the masonry bit to drive through right at the end. How do i drill into tiles without breaking them. The same goes for drilling into stone tiles. This is a question that i ve featured before on a previous video.

Instead you should opt for either carbide tipped or diamond tipped drill bits. You have to lubricate the drill bit consistently and i did that by myself with a recycled dish washing liquid bottle 500ml with a hole in the bottle cap. Regardless of the material you re trying to bore through never use an old and worn out drill bit for tile. Ceramic tile is both hard and brittle making it easy to damage both tile and drill bit.

Carbide tipped drill bits cut through ceramic tiles. Porcelain tile looks a lot like regular ceramic tile but it s much harder. Often there is a problem with drilling. Another major factor these days with very hard vitrified porcelain tiles becoming more and more popular is to select a drill bit that will actually drill through the tile successfully.

Adopt a patient approach with the correct tools and you have a high chance of success. And yes you can use these drills in the future. As mentioned earlier drilling through tile requires a specialist drill bit regular or even masonry bits simply won t do the job as they re not strong enough to penetrate tiles hard surfaces. The drills slide along the tile surface.

Make sure you have the right drill bit. Have the right bit for ceramic tile. Porcelain requires a diamond tipped bit. It is ideal for porcelain and stone.

Standard drill bits don t work on tile but not to worry. Ceramic tile can be drilled with a carbide bit while glass and porcelain call for a diamond tipped bit. However when you drill in a really tough tiles i reco. Its all about patience.

Hopefully you will not have to read the included instructions for repairing cracked tile. Now that you know what you re up against let s look at the tools you ll need for drilling through tiles. The point is that diamond tile drill bits ideally pass through even stone tiles. Normal masonry or tile bits wont work.
